There is a range of accommodation in Shetland to suit every need, from hotels to camping bods. Guest houses, B & Bs and self-catering cottages or apartments are available in almost every part of Shetland.
Accommodation is graded using the Visit Scotland Quality Assurance Star Grading Scheme. This is a 5-star grading system based on visitor research which indicates what a potential guest can expect from their accommodation, from cleanliness and food to ambience and hospitality.

Travel
Shetland is located 211 miles north of Aberdeen. It can be accessed by boat from Aberdeen and Orkney. There are sailings from Aberdeen at either 1730 or 1900 every evening, with the journey to Lerwick taking approximately 12 hours (14 hours if the sailing goes via Kirkwall).

Shetland is also accessible via daily flights. There are direct flights from Aberdeen and Orkney, and Shetland can also be reached by flights leaving from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. The main airport in Shetland is Sumburgh in the south mainland, which is 25 miles by road from Lerwick.
