The exhibition, From Old Rock To New Life, will highlight the lives of some Shetland emigrants past and present.  Most stories will be unfamiliar even to Shetlanders of today; there are farmers, gold prospectors, artists and many more.  Some became well-known, but most lived ordinary lives.

The display will also feature objects which belonged to emigrants, and photographs of emigrants in their new homes in mainland Britain or throughout the Empire.
